Séminaire de Vadim Makarov (University of Waterloo)

Dr Vadim Makarov is
Head of Quantum hacking lab at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada

Developments in quantum computing threaten our today’s
mathematical cryptographic protocols. Quantum cryptography offers a
‘quantum-safe’ solution that will be able to withstand the power of the
quantum computer. I review the progress in development of quantum
cryptography systems and networks, and the challenges of implementation
security that they currently face. An example will be given of a practical
hacking attack on a quantum cryptosystem, and a countermeasure against it.
